One of the advantages of buying a business in the depths of a recession is that the only way is up, right? That’s exactly what Anthony Prior – then a music promoter and record label boss – thought when he bought bagel and coffee business Bagelman in 2010. Unfortunately, just like bagels, most theories have a whopping great hole in them. It turned out the recession hadn’t yet reached the bottom after all.
Despite the setbacks, Bagelman is now twice the size it was and is busy lining up new openings in the south east. Anthony will explain how he has achieved all of this, while still finding time to run ultra marathons along the way.
