Apprenticeships are an excellent way to recruit new employees who can be trained and developed to support business needs whilst building their skills and knowledge. Apprenticeships can also be used to upskill existing employees for new or developing roles. The apprenticeship programme is tailored to the employer – you are in the driving seat.

During 2020 the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has moved away from the use of Government-procured contracts for apprenticeship training to a system in which employers will select an apprenticeship standard, choose their training provider and secure access to funding for all new apprenticeships through the digital Apprenticeship Service. Click here for more information. In doing so employers have greater control over their apprenticeship choices. Employers can now:

  • Choose from a range of apprenticeship Standards (click here for more information);
  • Choose a provider from the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) to deliver apprenticeship training and support with recruitment if required (click here for more information);
  • Find an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) (click here for more information);
  • Reserve access to funding for apprenticeship training and assessment, post vacancies and find a provider (click here for more information)
  • Agree contracts with providers; and
  • Benefit from collaborative relationships by delegating permissions to providers to service their accounts.
