Life changed in every way for Katherine Swift in 2010. First her world was shaken when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Katherine was a medical research fundraiser (via media promotions and event management) and her mum’s illness spurred her to get more deeply involved in ground-breaking research. It led to a major change of career.

After learning of the potential benefits of antioxidants in our diets, she discovered Japanese matcha tea. Packed with nutrients, it’s a very pure form of green tea and research shows it may act against cancer cells. Both she and her mum started drinking it and Katherine was so inspired that she gave up the day job and launched OMGTEA.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing – she tried to get a £50k investment through Dragons’ Den only for one of the Dragons to spill tea over himself. But the company is well positioned to take advantage of the growth in popularity of healthy, natural drinks.

At our November breakfast, Katherine will talk about her personal story and how she has built the business. Join us for a delicious breakfast, some excellent networking and plenty of coffee – and tea!
