The Health and Life Sciences sector is one of the fastest growing sectors globally and, as the average lifespan of people lengthens, more medical interventions will be required. In addition, many countries are establishing national medical services to better help their citizens, which will increase the global market for medical products.
West Sussex is currently home to over 140 medical technologies and pharmaceutical companies, with a great mix of multinationals, SMEs and start-up, and is in a strong position to benefit from these global trends. But to do so the county needs to formally market itself as a European capital for Health and Life Sciences and target businesses in this sector, both to protect the existing ones and also to attract new ones globally to relocate to West Sussex.
West Sussex County Council and its partners are focussed on building on our existing health and life sciences cluster in the County to position West Sussex as a leading place on the national and international stage for businesses to start, thrive and locate, with a key drive being the creation and retention of high value jobs.
